Zinc
Zinc is a trace mineral recommended frequently for acne. It helps with growth, wound healing, sperm production, and the entire male reproductive system, including the prostate. Zinc is essential for cell division and growth. It assists in proper functioning of the hormone insulin and the formation of cellular DNA. This mineral also has a role in over 300 enzymes in the body. Zinc synthesizes protein and protects the body from free radicals. It also triggers the birth of new white blood cells.
Food sources of zinc include poultry, oysters, dairy, wheat germ, liver, whole grains, seafood, black-eyed peas, tofu, fortified cereals, sunflower seeds, nuts, lean beef, legumes, lima beans, and pumpkin seeds. The herbs eyebright, hops, fennel seed, alfalfa, and wild yam contain zinc.
A deficiency of zinc can cause skin problems such as acne. Too little zinc weakens immunity, but too much does so also. In one study zinc given to acne patients was shown to be as effective as an oral antibiotic. The amount given was 30 mg two to three times a day. Improvement may take up to 2 to 3 months. I don't recommend taking over 60 mg a day, and never over 100 mg. When taking zinc long term, you must take 2 or 3 mg of copper a day. This is because zinc and copper block each other's absorption in the body. If you supplement with zinc but not with copper, you could induce a copper deficiency, which leads to certain health problems. The best form of copper is copper sulfate or cupric sulfate. Try to avoid copper oxide, which the body can't absorb.
There are many forms of zinc: zinc gluconate, zinc oxide, zinc sulfate, zinc acetate, zinc picolinate, and zinc monothionine. I never had success with zinc gluconate or oxide. I take zinc picolinate. This form of zinc is supposed to be the most absorbable. It is a combination of zinc and an organic salt derived from picolinic acid. Organic salts tend to be more easily absorbed than inorganic salts like sulfate. And it's gentler on the stomach than zinc sulfate.
I have noticed only a small improvement from taking zinc picolinate, so my acne problem wasn't due to a zinc deficiency. I take it just to be sure I don't become deficient in it. I've read that it's best to take zinc with food to minimize stomach upset, and my own experience backs this up. It's best to not take any other supplements with zinc, except copper. I couldn't find zinc picolinate in any stores (zinc gluconate is most common). I order zinc picolinate through Swanson Vitamins. They sell a good brand of zinc picolinate made by Solgar. The company Puritan's Pride also sells zinc picolinate. Many people online have said that they're using zinc and many have said it works against acne.

Immediately take a deep breath and cough twice, as hard as you can. Wait a couple of seconds, take another deep breath, and again cough twice. This will contract your diaphragm, compressing the heart and causing it to pump. It's a simle form of self-CPR.
Keep repeating the process until your heart begins to beat normally (or until help arrives). Once your heart is stabilized, chew and swallow one asprin. Then take 2 cayenne pepper capsules or a tablespoon of Tabasco sauce. The asprin will thin your blood and prevent platelets from sticking...while the Tobasco or cayenne will dilate your blood vessels so that blood can flow freely.
This simple technique can dramatically increase your chances of survival. Please share it with your friends and loved ones. It can save their lives!
